Comments:
  • Creative artist name!
  • Slow start but second slide is an excellent introduction- clear and covers chosen artist and name of the original artist.
  • Clear research into chosen artist
  • Excellent focus on brief- magazine, industry- but presentation involves quite a lot of reading from slides
  • Key concepts addressed well in video ideas- the first part covering the narrative/ feed of video is strong
  • Audience addressed across two slides
  • Neale- genre theory applied well
  • Mulvey application is great- deliberately subverting gender stereotypes in media
  • Sponsorship addresses with Nike along with elements of digital convergence (YouTube, social media)
  • Excellent research and planning, delivery could have been more to the group with less text on the slides
Q+A:
  • Nice Q on video- narrative or performance. Idea for feel of video is strong but questions on what video will actually contain, show some more work will be required when we reach pre-production
2) Use this feedback, comments from peers and your own reflection on your presentation to self-assess and write your own detailed WWW and EBI for your coursework concept and presentation as a whole.
WWW:
  • a lot of good research
  • entertaining pictures
  • good explanation of how you will meet the brief
  • good concept of media theories
  • well spoken and presented
  • great research, planning and great presenting
  • I love the name of the magazine - 'sequined'
  • good use of Blumer and Katz theory of uses and gratification
  • didn't stutter
  • nice information
  • good pace, good amount of text on each slide and pictures
EBI:
  • the starting silence
  • presentation was a bit wordy
  • maybe add more on camerawork and editing
  • narrative and filming locations
  • speak louder
  • too much Sabrina
3) Write a paragraph discussing how your presentation will lead into your actual coursework production. Do you need to update your statement of intent? Does your concept offer enough clarity? Is it appropriate for the audience specified in the brief? Is it achievable to film with the resources you have available? Can you add media terminology or theory to your statement of intent now you have reflected on your presentation and seen others?
I will be following the brief and will be using those aspects in my actual production. I will need to update my statement of intent by specifying the magazine brand that I will be using. I need to clarify that my music video will have both a performance and narrative concept. The audiences (demographics, psychographics)that I have specified in the statement are appropriate for my music video. It is achievable to film with my iPhone for some scenes as I will be taking existing clips from my phone for a montage in the video, however I will be considering to borrow a camera for better quality shots and for stable framing. In my opinion, I don't think I have to add other media representations as I have clearly stated it in my presentation+statement and linked them to the chosen music video.
